Achieving our net zero target

We are excited to announce that we have achieved net zero greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 across our automotive leather production.

This achievement reflects a long term approach to reducing carbon impact through changes to our manufacturing process and energy use, demonstrating that emissions can be reduced without compromising performance in a traditionally energy intensive sector.

A key part of this progress has been the evolution of circular manufacturing. By rethinking how energy, water and process flows are managed across our operations, we have developed a more efficient and lower impact model for producing automotive leather at scale.

This has been advanced through the recovery of process waste to generate heat through our Thermal Energy Plant, alongside the on site installation of our solar PV array and the wider transition towards renewable power.

This also marks an important step beyond our own operations. We continue to work closely with suppliers across our supply chain to reduce Scope 3 emissions and strengthen understanding of impact across production.

Dr Warren Bowden, Head of Innovation and Sustainability, said:

“For more than two decades, we have taken a long term, data led approach to reducing the environmental impact of our manufacturing. Achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 demonstrates that it is possible to decouple carbon from production through sustained innovation and changes to how energy is generated and used within our operations. This milestone represents an important step in our ongoing Journey to Zero, as we continue to reduce our wider impact across the supply chain.”
